Bands: Chris Lawson And The Unknowns

< previous next>

Along with Neil, Simon, and Jon Todd out of Finnegan's Wake, Chris was one of the people who got me into playing bass, so you can blame him really. There was a time when i'd go round to Simon's flat of a Sunday night, and "jam" (i.e. play very quietly in the corner while they showed off at each other) with the two of them, before watching "Jeeves and Wooster" and running round to the Rainbow and Dove. Ah, happy days!

Chris and I played in various permutations together for several years - though never, actually, as Chris Lawson And The Unknowns (or Chip Lawless And The Outlaws, or any of the other names we thought of in the pub). I always played bass, and backed him up in a duo a few times, did a couple of gigs as Ernie & Joe, and also when he joined Voon.

After all this Chris briefly sang in John Sims then went on to form Unknown Stuntman, and he now front Joe Pubic, who play around Leicester and, frankly, seem to be having a GRATE time doing so.
